Antoni, a top economist at the conservative Heritage Foundation, to serve as the next commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Antoni, who previously contributed to Project 2025&#8217;s policy rubric, has expressed skepticism about data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Trump previously ordered the firing of Erika McEntarfer, a Biden White House appointee, in 2024. Antoni&#8217;s nomination is expected to improve transparency and accuracy, as the GOP holds a 53-47 GOP majority, giving him a path to the job even if there are defections. Antoni&#8217;s appointment comes after the jobs report released in early August showed lower-than-expected hiring in July and major downward revisions to the jobs reports from May and June.
