Newsom’s office also highlighted a post on X in which his press office said, “California’s action this week is a DIRECT response to Trump and his lapdogs in Texas.” The Hill was directed by Newsom’s office to remarks from the governor last Thursday in which he said “the state of California’s going to fund” a special election in November for voters to approve a ballot measure that would let Democrats push through a new House map ahead of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
