U.S. Central Command (Centcom) announced that a senior ISIS official in Syria was killed in a successful raid in northern Syria. The senior ISIS member, who served as a key financier for attacks in Syria and Iraq, posed a direct threat to U.S. and Coalition forces and the new Syrian Government. Centcom’s commander, Adm. Brad Cooper, stated that they will continue to pursue ISIS terrorists with unwavering determination throughout the region. Trump has moved to ease sanctions on Syria following the ousting of Syrian dictator Bashar Assad in December. Last month, Centcom forces killed another senior ISIS leader, Dhiya’ Zawba Muslih al-Hardani, and his two adult ISIS-affiliated sons. U.S. officials also stated that the ISIS members posed a threat to U.S. and coalition forces, including the Syrian government.
