Vice President Vance has criticized the idea of offering thoughts and prayers after a school shooting in Minneapolis, following the killings of two children at a Catholic school. He believes that prayer is not a substitute for action and that prayers are used to express broken hearts and believe that God is listening. Democratic politicians have expressed frustration with politicians offering their thoughts and prayers after tragedies, while little action is taken on gun control. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey emphasized that the children were praying during a mass when a gunman shot them through a window in the church. The suspect, 23-year-old Robin Westman, was identified as a suburban Minneapolis resident. The children killed were 8 and 10 years old, and at least four remain in critical condition. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said that the remaining victims are expected to survive.
